Most people never realize that they are interpreters of the scriptures. By that, we mean that we, as students of the bible, have to make choices on our own as to what a text may or not mean. This is true because (1) we all bring our own bias to the text and (2) we each hold a translation of the scriptures and not the scriptures themselves. In this lesson we learn some foundational principles to making good interpretative choices.
